Renate Reimann, Ph.D., is a certified personal life coach and owner of FreshLife Coaching. A German native who has lived in New York City for two decades, she specializes in working with individuals and companies on German-American cross-cultural awareness and communication, as well as adjustment to living in the United States.  As a trained sociologist, Renate has a unique and relaxing way of exploring new cities – to learn about the local culture she simply sits in a sidewalk café and observes the locals as they go about their daily business.

Prior to establishing her coaching business in 2006, Renate was a college professor and marketing researcher. She has worked on projects for multinational and Fortune 500 companies such as PhilipsCiba VisionKPMGDow ChemicalBBVA (Spanish Bank), GivaudanIllyColgateGlaxoSmithKline and LG. During her years in academia, she studied and taught cross-cultural differences between families in North America and Europe.

In addition to her Ph.D. in Sociology from The City University of New York, Renate holds an MA in Sociology from the University of Hamburg, Germany, a Certificate in Personal and Life Coaching from New York University, and a Certificate in Women’s Studies from the Graduate Center of CUNY.

With her diverse background, Renate is adept at making theoretical cultural concepts real and accessible to her clients. Her relocation clients especially appreciate her ability to reduce their anxiety about living in another country and replace it with an increased excitement about entering a fascinating new world. She knows she has done her job when someone exclaims, “Aha, that’s why my German/American colleague does that!”

Renate is an active member of the International Coach Federation, the American Sociological Association and Out Professionals.
